The 7th INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON LIQUID METALS APPLICATIONS FOR FUSION (ISLA-7)
To be held at Chubu University, Kasugai, Aichi, JAPAN

On behalf of the ISLA-7 committees, I am pleased to announce and invite you to participate in the 7th International Symposium on Liquid (Metals) Applications for Fusion (ISLA-7) to be held for Dec. 12th through Dec. 16th, 2022 at Chubu University, JAPAN.
To briefly review its history, this series of symposia have been held biannually over the past 10 years: the 1st edition hosted by NIFS, Japan in 2009, the 2nd one by PPPL, USA in 2011, the 3rd one by ENEA, Italy in 2013, the 4th one by CIEMAT, Spain in 2015, the 5th one by TRINITI, Russia in 2017, and the 6th one by Univ. Illinois, USA in 2019. The 7th symposium was planned to be held at AS-IPP, China in 2021, which, however, has been postponed due to the COVID-19 situation. Most recently, the ISLA International Organizing Committee has pointed Chubu University： CHUBU UNIVERSITY Chubu University in JAPAN to host the 7th edition in 2022 to avoid further delay.
To cope with the COVID-19 situation, for the first time of this series of symposia, ISLA-7 will be held in a hybrid fashion, namely, most of the sessions will be held in-person in the main auditorium, named Active Hall, at Chubu University whereas the rest of the sessions will be held on-line. To ensure the safety of the symposium procedures, all participants will kindly be requested for PCR self-tests on a daily basis at the host hotel (Hilton Hotel, Nagoya Hilton Nagoya) and also towards the end of the symposium agenda PCR-tests will be provided by medical staff on campus to prepare for the returning trips.
All the papers invited and contributed to ISLA-7 will be subject to peer review for the publication in a special issue of the Fusion Engineering and Design journal, which has been the tradition of this series of symposia.
